NEPAL: BEFORE THE EARTHQUAKE
On April 25th a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal. More then 9000 people were killed, about 23,000 thousand injured. It was the worst natural disaster in Nepal in 82 years.
The earthquake triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest that caused 19 climbers to perish on what is now considered the deadliest day on the mountain. Hundreds of thousands of people were left homeless, entire villages flattened. Century-old buildings were destroyed.
Just a week before this quake I was in Nepal trekking on the Annapurna route. I love Nepal and enjoyed my time in Kathmandu and interacting with people along my trek. I hope my images give you a glimpse into Nepal before this terrible tragedy. I hope to return next year to see my friends and how the Nepalese people are rebuilding their lives.
