The Flower Holi celebration in Vrindaban (where Lord Krishna spent his youth) is celebrated by thousands of pilgrims as well as local Hindus. Being in Vrindaban for Holi is a special event because of its spiritual connection to the life of Lord Krishna.

The story of Krishna’s life often is about his consort, Radha, and her gopis, or milkmaids, and this unique celebration during Holi week reenacts the divine love story of Krishna and Radha.

Radha is acknowledged as the Supreme Goddess, for it is said that she controls Krishna with her love and it is believed that Krishna enchants the world, but Radha “enchants even Him”. It is believed that Krishna left the circle of the rasa dance to search for Radha. It is also believed that Radha is not just one cowherd maiden, but is the origin of all the gopis, or divine personalities that participate in the rasa dance.

This production celebrates with flower pedals being thrown during and at the culmination of the play.

Holi helps to bring society together and strengthen the secular fabric of the country. The festival is celebrated by non-Hindus also as everybody likes to be a part of such a colorful and joyous festival.

​

The tradition of the Holi is that even the enemies turn friends on Holi and forget any feeling of hardship that may be present. Supposedly, on this day people do not differentiate between the rich and poor and everybody celebrates the festival together with a spirit of friendship and brotherhood. This helps in revitalizing relationships and strengthening emotional bonds between people.
